Essential Job Duties

• Lead fitness classes in various disciplines for our Active Aging residents
• Educate residents on proper form, body mechanics, and anatomy to prevent injuries
• Design and implement effective fitness programs for groups
• Encourage residents to maintain and/or achieve their fitness goals
• Willingness to teach classes on all areas of campus to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED (required)
• Group Fitness Certified and/or any combination of experience and education in the fitness and wellness field (preferred). Resumes and references should reflect experience.
• CPR & First Aid Certified (required)
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Previous experience as a fitness instructor or personal trainer (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of various fitness disciplines helpful
• Understanding of anatomy and body mechanics to ensure safe and effective workouts
• Experience in program design and sports coaching is a plus but not required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with residents – your personality should shine!
• Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all fitness and mobility levels

Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsNormally works in well-lit, comfortable surroundings. Must be able to concentrate with frequent interruptions. Frequent walking; frequent bending, reaching, and stooping. The job requires individual to perform and demonstrate proper form and technique. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs. independently. They may be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses, unpleasant odors, and combative behavior.
